Beginner Quilter - Framed Four-Patch

This Framed Four-Patch quilt is for the beginner quilter. Whether you are just starting out, or want to hone your skills, this class is for you.
This class will cover the basics of piecing and focus on the importance of accurate cutting. Classes will run 4 weeks - 2 1/2 hours the first class, and 2 hours for class 2 through 4.
Class 1, 2 & 3 will work on basic sewing knowledge needed to read and understand patterns, cutting material and piecing. Class 3 & 4 will work on final assembly and piecing the quilt top. Quilt size - approximately 61" x 61".
Cost will cover the pattern, class handouts and instructional time only. Additional purchase of material for backing, binding and batting will be necessary to complete your quilt.
Sign up is available in store or on our website. Supplies and materials should be purchased prior to class and brought to class. Students should arrive to class 10-15 minutes early to allow time for set-up.
Needed Supplies/Tools for class:
- Scissors, Rotary Cutter and snips (snips optional - but handy)
- Cutting Mat - 12 x 18 or larger (self-healing is best)
- Straight edge ruler/template - Minimum of 2 1/2 " x 24
- Marking Pen/Pencil
- Seam Ripper
- Sewing Machine*
- Matching Thread
- Project Bags or Ziplock Bags - to organize pieces
- Small Post-it or tape - for labeling
- Small fabric clips
- Sewing pins
Materials: (will run $50-$60, depending on fabrics chosen)
- A - Focal - 3/4 yd
- B - Light - 3/4 yd
- C - Medium - 3/4 yd
- D - Dark - for blocks and outer frame - 1 1/4 yd
- E - Solid - for sashing - 1 1/2 yds

*Students with machines should bring their machine to classes. There will be a limited amount of classroom machines available for those that do not have a machine.

Skill Details: | Students should be able to follow and read directions to create their beginner quilt. Students will be utilizing scissors, pins and rotary cutters, which are sharp and should exercise caution when handling these tools. Measuring and understanding measurements will be used throughout the project. |
