New To Quilting

New to quilting? Want to learn how to quilt? This class will take you through cutting, piecing and completely finishing your quilt on your domestic sewing machine. Finished size will be approximately 39" x 43.5".

Needed Supplies -

• Scissors/snips
• Cutting Mat - 18" x 24" or larger (self-healing is best)
• Pins
• Small Clips
• Cutting Ruler/Template - 12" x 24" or larger
• Rotary Cutter
• Painters Tape or small post its to mark pieces
• Zip lock bags or project bags to keep pieces organized
• 505 Fabric Spray glue or similar - allows for stability while quilting without all of the pins

Materials Needed -

• 3/4 yd fabric - Inner small border and Outer large border (should complement charm pack- Usually a solid)
• 1 - Charm pack (5" x 5" squares - 42 ct) 
• 1 - 13" x WOF strip of fabric that will coordinate with chosen charm pack (Middle Border - preferrably a print)
• 1 1/3 yd fabric - backing & binding
• Crib size batting or batting remnant that measures a minimum of 45" x 48"

Prior to 1st class - Students should take the ime to look through their chosen charm pack to figure out the layout of their squares. Practice laying these out into a rectangle 6 squares across and 7 squares down. Ensure like colors are separate from each other when possible.
Once you have found a layout that you like, stack your rows together from left to right - left block will be on top and the right block on bottom. Place each row into a ziplock or project bag and label with row number.

Skill Level:	Beginner
Skill Details:	Will learn knowledge of quilting techniques. Student should be able to follow and read directions to create their beginning quilt. Students will be utilizing scissors, pins and rotary cutters, which are sharp and should excersize caution when handling these tools. Measuring and understanding measurements will be used throughout the class.
